To,
Dear Alumni of COEP,
I am enclosing details about COEP land under litigation. You will know the entire history with sequential events happened about the case from the enclosed document. Alumni Association of COEP is supporting all actions taken by Director in respect of said land and would like to strengthen his hands.
In order to protect our land, Alumni of COEP are requested to use their good offices, connections, contacts with the concerned authorities like Maharashtra Govt., Chief Minister M.S., PMC, MP and MLAs of ruling parties, especially Hon. Mr. Ajitdada Pawar (Palak Mantri), Hon. Speaker, etc. and inform about our strong feelings.
The college authorities have already proposed to Maharashtra Govt. about the utilization of the land under dispute for constructing grand library building cum knowledge centre and which would be befitting a institute of the stature of COEP. It would be a place of pride for not only Pune but entire Maharashtra state. Moreover, once built, it would be available for sharing by all those interested in enhancing their knowledge. The Alumni Association’s building is also proposed on the same location. The Govt. of Maharashtra has also allocated funds for the same. The land is used for educational purpose by the institute of 155 years old, one of the oldest engg colleges in Asia. Otherwise students admitted to this autonomous college will be deprived of modern facilities of technical education. Soon this prestigious institute will be University and there will not be any land left for its development. Already COEP land is given to many other nearby organizations. This is the only land available now with COEP and our dreams will not come true without this piece of land admeasuring 40,266.20 m2.
The Director of COEP is putting hard efforts in pursuing the court matter. Inspite of lawful ownership of land of COEP, the problem is created. It seems that all the stakeholders including Alumni of COEP have to unite for our rightful cause and raise the voices against all those who have created this problem for their personal benefits.
You are therefore requested to come together and show our strengths and feelings by way of writing letters to the concerned authorities and influential persons and leaders who always stand on the side of social justice and promoting higher and technical education initiatives.
You are also requested to write articles in news papers to build the atmosphere in the society at larges in favour of rightful demands of COEP.
So we stand united for good cause of COEP, our beloved Alma Mater.
You can suggest ways and means to do this individually and collectively.
With warm regards,
Prof. P.V. Mandke
Executive Director
