The College of Engineering, Pune established in 1854, stands today as a premier institute of engineering in India. It is one of the oldest engineering colleges in the country. It offeres graduates, post-graduates and doctoral programmes in over nine branches of engineering, producing over 800 world-engineers every year, set out to carve a niche for themselves in the fields of research & technology.
In December, 2004, COEP celebrated its 150 years of phenomenal contribution to the fileds of science and development of society.
In 2003, the college attained autonomous status, thus giving it freedom to set its own curriculum and manage its own finances. This has been the biggest cchange as far as pedagogy at COEP is concerned. Indeed, the heritage and glory of this institute trancends all boundaries of time.
